Swiis Foster Care prides itself on achieving positive outcomes for some of the most vulnerable and complex children and young people in Scotland.
We measure progress and outcomes in line with the Scottish Government’s SHANARRI ( Safe, Healthy, Active, Nurturing, Achieving, Responsible, Respected and Included) wellbeing indicators.
The aspirations for all Scottish children are that they will grow up to become:
- Successful Learners
- Confident Individuals
- Effective Contributors
- Responsible Citizens
We want these outcomes for all the children and young people placed with our carers.
We promote and measure success using the SHANARRI framework and expect and support our carers to:
Safe – keep children safe from harm and exploitation and help them to deal with previous abuse and trauma.
Healthy – ensure children’s individual health needs are met and encourage and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Active – encourage children to pursue active interests and join local clubs.
Nurtured –provide a nurturing caring family environment.
Achieving – support and guide children in their learning and development through their education and within the community. Educational outcomes for young people placed with our carers are higher than the national average. 97% of young people placed with Swiis had perfect attendance.
Respected – value each young person as a unique individual.
Responsible – encourage children tolearn about values and respect for others and also encourage them to participate in activities that help develop these values and skills
Included – ensure children aredirectly involved inmaking plans for their future and expressing their views.
