Support

Support

You will not be fostering on your own – as a minimum you can expect:

  • Your own supervising social worker, to advise and support your family
  • A resource worker, who can offer lots of practical support
  • Access to our mentor scheme and support from our existing experienced foster carers
  • 24 hour on call support
  • Training opportunities, before and after approval as a foster carer, including attachment and self regulation training to develop your therapeutic parenting skills
  • A weekly fee for your work as a carer
  • Festival and birthday allowances for each child in placement
  • A weekly allowance (based on the Fostering Network allowances), to meet the costs of caring for the child(ren)
  • Membership of the Fostering network, which gives access to independent advice and legal support, if required
  • Access to regional support groups with other foster carers and Children who Foster groups for your children

However in addition if specific needs are identified for the child(ren) then additional supports can be accessed:

  • Support and guidance from specialist practitioners including education and therapy professionals
  • Paid breaks ( respite)
